A Family Farm with Deep Roots
Ninnescah Farms is a direct-to-consumer beef operation located on a 600-acre generational family farm in Viola, Kansas. The farm has been in the family for multiple generations and traces back to an immigrant from Denmark who settled the land after traveling by horse from Wichita. Today, that heritage continues through a practical, modern beef business built on trust, quality, and local connection.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide high-quality, locally raised beef directly to families while maintaining transparency, consistency, and affordability through bulk purchasing. We believe customers deserve a clear and traceable source of beef raised in a responsible environment.
What we stand for
At Ninnescah Farms, we value:
Generational agriculture
Local connection
Transparency in food production
Quality beef at fair bulk pricing
Our approach is honest, practical, family-oriented, hardworking, and rooted in tradition.
Our process
Cattle are sourced from a family herd at around 550 pounds. They move through a growing phase that includes pasture grazing, hay, and mineral supplementation, followed by a 90- to 100-day grain-finishing phase. This program is designed to produce tender, consistent beef while maintaining efficiency and quality.
About the Operator
My name is Alec Beasley, and I am the operator and partial owner of Ninnescah Beef Company. This business is part of my family’s five-generation farm, and being able to build it as part of that legacy means a great deal to me.
I was raised on the farm alongside my grandparents, Anita and Don, and my dad, Matt. Growing up here taught me a lot more than just how a farm operates. It taught me the value of a dollar, the meaning of hard work, and how to grow as an individual. The farm gave me experiences that shaped me into the person I am today, and it is a big part of why I care so deeply about this business.
I grew up heavily involved in the family farm. During the summers, I spent nearly all of my time working and learning every aspect of the operation. While a lot of my friends were off doing typical teenage activities, I was feeding cattle, fixing fence, running farm equipment, repairing equipment, building relationships with the co-op, and learning what it takes to keep a farm running day to day. Those years gave me a real understanding of agriculture, livestock, and responsibility.
I am from Clearwater, Kansas, and I grew up surrounded by farm life, cattle, and the daily work that comes with it. Some of my earliest experiences that shaped my interest in beef production came from seeing the full process firsthand — bringing a calf into the world, raising it, keeping it healthy, and seeing that work turn into a product that can feed families. That process gave me a deep appreciation for what goes into producing quality beef.
One of the things I enjoy most about this business is being able to provide people with quality food — especially beef that is traceable, raised properly, and something families can feel good about putting on their table. The part of the work that matters most to me is the day-to-day care of the cattle. I believe that producing great beef starts with taking care of the animals the right way every single day.
I wanted to build Ninnescah Beef Company because I saw a need for a better beef option than what many people can find in the grocery store. I wanted to create a solution for people who are looking for bulk beef at a fair price while also giving every customer the chance to have a relationship with the farmer they are buying from. I think that matters. When you go to the grocery store, you usually do not know exactly what you are buying or where it came from. I believe that gap needs to be filled.
Direct-to-consumer beef is important to me because I think the relationship between the farmer and the customer matters, especially when that food is going on your family’s table. I want customers to know where their beef comes from and to understand that we take the time to think through every part of the process. Our goal is to raise cattle with the right genetics, in a healthy and suitable environment, beginning on pasture and then transitioning later in the cycle to a feeding program that develops the marbling and flavor people want on the plate.
I graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in entrepreneurship and minors in marketing and sales. That education gave me a stronger business foundation and helped me connect what I learned growing up on the farm with what it takes to build and market a real business. I have also worked with Techtronic Industries, selling Milwaukee, Ryobi, and RIDGID tools through Home Depot, which gave me additional experience in sales, customer relationships, and understanding how to serve people well.
My philosophy when it comes to raising cattle is simple: take care of the animals, raise them properly, and put in the time and effort it takes to produce the best beef possible. The standards I care most about are quality and transparency. To me, quality beef means the animal was raised in a healthy environment, handled with the right practices, and cared for through every stage of the process, whether that is feeding, health management, or veterinary care.
What sets us apart is transparency. When you buy from us, you know where your beef came from, how it was raised, and who produced it. That kind of relationship is hard to find in the traditional grocery system, and I believe it is incredibly important.
My vision for Ninnescah Beef Company is to create a business where people can truly understand where the beef in their freezer comes from. I want to preserve my family’s farm name and help carry on the tradition of family farming for future generations. There are not many young people choosing this path anymore, and I want to be part of keeping that legacy alive. I also want to give my own future family the same opportunity I had — to grow up learning the lessons, values, and work ethic that come from farm life.
Looking ahead, I would love to grow Ninnescah Beef Company into something that not only serves families directly but also supplies high-quality beef to restaurants. More than anything, I want families to experience the same kind of quality and security I grew up with — always having good beef in the freezer and knowing exactly where it came from. I want customers to have a great experience from the moment they purchase from us to the moment they sit down and enjoy the meal at home. My hope is that people leave the table saying, “That was the best steak I’ve ever had,” and feel proud to say it came from Ninnescah Beef Company.
The Problem & Our Solution
The Problem
Today, most people buy beef without really knowing where it came from, how it was raised, or who produced it. In the traditional grocery system, there is often a disconnect between the farmer and the family buying the food. Customers may not know the source of their beef, what practices were used to raise it, or whether the product they are bringing home is truly consistent in quality.
For many families, that uncertainty matters. When you are feeding the people in your home, you want confidence in what you are putting on the table. You want beef that tastes good, is raised properly, and comes from a source you can trust. But for many consumers, that level of transparency simply is not available through the standard retail experience.
There is also a growing gap between customers and the farms that produce their food. As fewer people have direct ties to agriculture, more families are left feeling disconnected from the process. They know they want quality, but they often do not know where to find it or who to buy it from.
Why It Matters
We believe people should know more about the food they are feeding their families. They should know where it comes from, how it was raised, and who stands behind it.
That matters because beef is not just another product on a shelf. It is something families gather around at the dinner table. It is something they serve to guests, cook for their kids, and keep in the freezer to rely on. When people buy beef, they should be able to feel confident in its quality and proud of its source.
Our Solution
Ninnescah Beef Company was built to offer a better way to buy beef.
Our solution is simple: provide customers with high-quality bulk beef that is born, raised, and finished on our family farm, while giving them direct access to the people behind the product. Instead of buying beef from an unknown supply chain, our customers buy from a farm they can know and trust.
Every animal we sell is born on our farm and raised through every stage of the process with quality and care in mind. Our cattle are Beefmaster-Angus crosses, grown on pasture, wheat pasture, and hay with year-round mineral access before entering a finishing program designed to improve marbling, flavor, and tenderness. Because we manage the process from beginning to end, we are able to provide beef that is traceable, consistent, and backed by full transparency.
