Our Process

3. Finishing Phase

Once cattle reach around 900 pounds, they begin the finishing phase. This is one of the most important parts of the process because it directly impacts the eating quality of the beef.

Our finishing program is designed with a clear goal in mind: to produce beef with excellent marbling, rich flavor, and tenderness.

During finishing, cattle are fed a balanced ration for approximately 100 days consisting of:

  • 70% corn

  • 20% distillers grain

  • 10% hay

This feeding program supports consistent growth and helps create the beef quality our customers expect.

Finishing phase targets:

  • Starting weight: approximately 900 pounds

  • Finished target weight: approximately 1,200 pounds

  • Weight gain: around 300 pounds

  • Average daily gain: around 3 pounds per day

  • Timeline: about 3 to 4 months

4. Harvest and Processing

When cattle reach finished weight, they are harvested and processed for beef. From there, customers receive beef that has been raised with care and attention from birth all the way through finishing.

Because we manage the process from the beginning, we are able to offer a product that is consistent, traceable, and rooted in the values of our family farm.

5. Finished Beef

From birth to finished beef, the full process takes approximately 9 to 12 months. Every step is designed to prioritize animal care, consistency, and the production of high-quality beef that families can feel good about bringing home.

At Ninnescah Beef Company, our goal is simple: raise cattle the right way and produce beef that delivers on quality, flavor, and trust.

1. Born and Raised on Our Farm

Because all of our cattle are born on the farm, we know exactly where they come from and how they have been cared for throughout their lives. That transparency matters to us, and it matters to our customers.

From the beginning, our focus is on raising cattle in a healthy environment with the right genetics and management practices in place.

2. Growing Phase

After weaning, cattle enter the growing phase, where the goal is to develop them steadily and naturally before the finishing stage.

During this phase, our cattle are kept on pasture and are fed based on the season:

  • pasture grass

  • wheat pasture

  • hay during the winter

  • free-choice mineral year-round

This stage is designed to support healthy growth while allowing the cattle to develop in a suitable environment with consistent care.

Growing phase targets:

  • Starting weight: approximately 550 pounds

  • Goal weight: approximately 900 pounds

  • Weight gain: around 350 pounds

  • Average daily gain: around 2 pounds per day

  • Timeline: about 6 months

What Sets Us Apart

Transparency

Every animal we sell is born and raised on our family farm, which means we know exactly where our beef comes from and how it has been cared for from the very beginning. We believe customers deserve to know the source of the food they put on their table, and we take pride in offering a level of transparency that is hard to find in the traditional grocery system.

Quality

Our process is built with the end product in mind. From pasture-based growth to a carefully managed finishing program, every stage is designed to produce beef with the marbling, flavor, and tenderness families want. We focus on doing things the right way so our customers can enjoy beef that is consistent, dependable, and something they feel good about serving at home.

Family Legacy

Ninnescah Beef Company is part of a five-generation family farm, and that history shapes everything we do. We are committed to preserving the values of hard work, stewardship, and pride in the product we raise. When customers buy from us, they are supporting more than just a beef purchase — they are supporting a family farm and a way of life that we are proud to carry forward.
